What does this product do?
The Gigabit desktop switch with 8 ports and PoE on 4 of them enables seamless network connections. It features 1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet and 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet capacity.

How does this product work?
Four of the eight Auto-Negotiation RJ45 ports (ports 1 to 4) of the switch support the Power over Ethernet (PoE) function. These PoE ports can automatically detect and power IEEE 802.3af compliant Powered Devices (PDs). In this situation, power supply occurs alongside data transmission over a single cable, allowing you to extend your network to locations where there is no power supply and install devices such as APs, IP cameras, or IP phones.

Overload protection
The TL-SG1008P has a priority feature that protects the system from overload. If the power consumption of all PoE PDs is >= 53 W, priority is assigned to the PoE ports, after which the system cuts off power to the port with the lowest priority.

Priority feature for ports
Priority (port 1>port 2>port 3>port 4): This feature helps to protect the system when the power supply becomes overloaded. For example, if ports 1, 2, and 4 each use 15.4 W (the maximum power supply per port is 15.4 W), the total power supply to the system is 46.2 W (the PoE max light is red). If a PD using 10 W is then connected to port 3, the system will cut off power to port 4 to protect the system. This means that ports 1 and 2 each use 15.4 W and port 3 uses 10 W. Port 4 will then have no power supply.
