When a computer or network device is turned off, the corresponding port of a traditional switch continues to consume significant amounts of power. The TL-SL1016 can automatically detect the link status of each port and reduce the power consumption of unused ports.

Power budget according to cable length
Typically, shorter cables consume less power due to lower power loss across the length of the cable; this is not the case with most devices, as they consume the same amount of power through the cable regardless of its length.

Ease of use
The automatic features of this gigabit switch make installation plug-and-play and hassle-free. No configuration is needed. The Auto MDI/MDI-X crossover on all ports eliminates the need for crossover cables or uplink ports. Auto-negotiation on each port detects the link speed of a network device (10, 100, or 1000 Mbps) and intelligently adjusts compatibility and optimal performance. The compact housing makes it ideal for desktops with limited space, while also being convenient and secure for rack mounting.
